Thomas S. Alvarez
Photojournalism has been and always will be my core interest and passion.
My photography career has afforded me opportunities in newspaper photojournalism and as a photographer for the U.S. Army and Army National Guard in Alaska and Idaho. I also employed my photography skills during temporary assignments with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service. In those roles my photojournalism background was of immense value when working as a Public Affairs Specialist on environmental issues such as endangered species, climate change, the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico; wild horse gathers and fire assignments with BLM as a Fire Public Information Officer and the Forest Service.
With diverse photography experience in urban, environmental and studio settings I have gained a better understanding of environmental issues, military operations and protocol, and the lifestyles and culture throughout the western United States.
I am available for assignments.
